Background
West China Hospital of Sichuan University is one of the top 10 hospitals
in China. More than 8,000 workers are employed there and every day more than 15,000
people visit the hospital.
Challenge
To protect against the transmission of corona virus, visitors and employees should be checked for a raised body temperature, i.e., fever, upon entering the hospital.
Previously, West China Hospital used a handheld infrared thermometer for screening. To do this, however, the personnel had to get close to the person being checked and were thus exposed to a high risk.
In addition, each visitor had to stop and be checked individually, which was very time-consuming. This created long lines of visitors outside the hospital entrances, where visitors could easily catch the virus from people who were already infected.

Solution
FOTRIC implemented the FOTRIC 226Bthermal imaging cameras at the two main entrance areas: The emergency room entrance and the reception area.
Due to the built-in intelligent technology of the camera with automatic face recognition, no additional staff is needed to manage the monitoring stations. Only two employees view the results of the measurement in real time. During this process, the employees are at a safe distance from the entering visitors at all times. The built-in alarm immediately informs employees when an elevated body temperature is detected.
